🆕Creating a New Book

The New Book form is where every project starts. Fill in your book details and our AI pipeline takes over — from market research to a finished manuscript with cover art.
How it works
  1. 1Click 'New Book' in the sidebar (or the + button on the dashboard)
  2. 2Enter your book topic — be specific (e.g., 'Mediterranean diet for beginners' not just 'cooking')
  3. 3Choose your genre and target audience
  4. 4Set your target word count (default 40,000 words works well for most non-fiction)
  5. 5Pick an AI model — Flash 2.5 is the best value, Pro for highest quality
  6. 6Add any special instructions (tone, style, specific topics to cover)
  7. 7Click 'Create Book' and watch the magic happen

💡 Tips
  • •Use the ✨ AI Suggest buttons to get topic ideas, audience suggestions, and writing instructions
  • •More specific topics = better results. 'Keto meal prep for busy professionals' beats 'diet book'
  • •You can always edit the manuscript after generation
  • •The pipeline typically takes 15-25 minutes for a 10-chapter book

🤖The AI Pipeline (7 Agents)

When you create a book, 7 specialized AI agents work in sequence to produce your manuscript. You can watch them work in real-time on the Progress page.
How it works
  1. 1🔍 Market Research — Analyzes your niche, competition, and market size using live Google data
  2. 2🔑 Keyword Analysis — Finds 7 high-value Amazon search keywords with volume and competition data
  3. 3📋 Book Outline — Creates a detailed chapter-by-chapter outline with synopses
  4. 4📖 Manuscript — Writes each chapter individually (the longest step, ~2-5 min per chapter)
  5. 5🎨 Cover Design — Generates a professional AI cover image based on your book's genre and theme
  6. 6📐 Interior Format — Creates formatting specs (trim size, fonts, margins) for KDP
  7. 7🏷️ Metadata & SEO — Optimizes your title, description, categories, and backend keywords

💡 Tips

  • •You can click any completed step to preview its output with rich formatting
  • •The manuscript step writes chapters one at a time — if it fails, only the failed chapter retries automatically
  • •Cover images are generated using Gemini's image model and stored securely in private blob storage
  • •The pipeline runs on Inngest (a background job runner) — each agent's output is saved as it completes, so if anything crashes, completed steps are preserved

✏️Editing Your Manuscript

The built-in editor lets you review and refine every chapter. It supports both a rich preview mode (rendered markdown) and a raw edit mode.
How it works
  1. 1Open your project and click the 'Editor' tab
  2. 2Use the chapter sidebar to navigate between chapters
  3. 3Toggle between Preview (rendered) and Edit (raw text) modes
  4. 4Changes auto-save as you type
  5. 5Each chapter shows its word count

💡 Tips
  • •The AI writes in clean prose — no markdown formatting in the manuscript
  • •You can completely rewrite sections if needed
  • •Use Preview mode to see how the final book will look

⚠️ Always review AI-generated content before publishing. While our quality checks catch most issues, a human review is essential.

📁Managing Projects

The Projects page is your library. Every book you create lives here with its current status, cover image, and quick actions.
How it works
  1. 1View all projects with cover thumbnails and status badges
  2. 2Filter by status: Draft, Generating, Completed, Cancelled, Published
  3. 3Click any project to access its Editor, Quality, Marketing, Export, and Publish tools
  4. 4Cancel a running generation if needed (completed chapters are saved)
  5. 5Delete projects you no longer need

⚡AI Model Selection
Choose the right AI model for your needs. Each model offers different speed/quality/cost tradeoffs. Models are used across book creation, research, quality checks, marketing, and more.
How it works
  1. 1Gemini 2.5 Flash — Best value. Fast, smart, great for most books. ~$0.03/book
  2. 2Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite — Fastest and cheapest. Good for simple topics. ~$0.01/book
  3. 3Gemini 2.5 Pro — Highest quality. Best for complex or technical topics. ~$0.15/book
  4. 4Gemini 3 Flash — Next-gen intelligence, fast. ~$0.05/book
  5. 5Gemini 3 Pro — State-of-the-art reasoning. ~$0.20/book
  6. 6Gemini 3.1 Pro — Most intelligent, advanced reasoning and 2M context window. ~$0.25/book

💡 Tips
  • •Flash 2.5 is the sweet spot for 90% of books
  • •Use Pro models for technical, scientific, or highly nuanced topics
  • •Cost estimates are approximate — actual cost depends on book length and chapter count
  • •All models support thinking/reasoning capabilities for better output quality
